Great article Deb! Love it as much as all your other perspectives. I feel so stuck that I am ready to quit!!! Feeling reassured to know I am not the only one going through such crisis, and that most people feel the same way at some point in their careers.
I am exactly in the spot that you mentioned above with one of your mentees, stuck with unfulfilled verbal commitments, and given my personality I am unable to voice my concerns. You mention that you offer yourself as a sounding board for PMs, wondering how do I connect with you and get your valuable insight to my current situation as well as my long term aspirations. Is there a place I can sign up to connect with you?
If you subscribe, reply to the email. I try to read all of them and reply when I can. Others reach out via LinkedIn. I usually try to mentor one or two people a week, time permitting.
Once again an impactful post that forced me to look into the mirror! So I'm asking myself, will I be happy for a few months or year. Thanks Ma'am for this wonderful piece, yet again.
I love that you suggested the coin flip. When I feel like I've thought everything through but still can't decide on a major decision I'll often flip a coin. That gut feeling when I see how it lands tells me everything. It works!
