Deb, I truly enjoyed reading your deep dive into Chat GPT and shared experiences - with examples, which makes them even more relevant and relatable! I also noted and valued the "please" in your prompts, and found the responses, well, not so politely human! Thank you!
Deb - one of the many reasons I love your writing and more importantly, who you are as a person, is that you use "Please" in your ChatGPT prompts - speaks volumes :)
I joked with my husband that we are raising a generation of kids who shout across the room, "Hey Google, do this!" without the politeness needed to actually talk to other humans. ChatGPT and other prompting has the same properties.
“I found it especially useful for coming up with ideas and ways of expanding on them, but it fell short when it came to writing interesting articles with a human component.” - this seems to be an emerging consensus across numerous pieces I’ve read. A partner to prompt _you_ back...
Love your perspective. I finally gave it a go but with something far less serious- create a road trip stopping at Gluten Free restaurants. It did a pretty good job. I suspect if I were more specific it would do an even better job.
But that isn't the types of business use cases we're looking for. I'll be interested to see how it works with resume customization for different jobs (something I tell folks to do but is a HUGE lift) and other similar ideas where what we need is a minor change. I think to your point, it still may require story based customization, but it may get some of these time consuming cases a bit closer to the finish line, to be finalized by the real human!

Interesting read! As someone who constantly mess with these tools, it's always fascinating to see how AI tools are being used in various domains.
love your article
I used ChatGPT for math sometimes. It sometimes gives me the right answer, but sometimes the answer is wrong.
There is still human judgement needed in all things.
Love this!
Thank you for inspiring this article, Marily!
